Gardners Farm – Traffic Misrepresentation

Letter written to planning authority about misrepresentation of traffic use

Gardners Farm

SDNP/25/01499/PA3R

I am writing to express my concern regarding a claim made in the planning application for the  Land West Of Gardners Farm Pratts Lane Steep Marsh Petersfield Hampshire GU32 2BJ. This  suggests that the site was “used for egg rearing and resulted in daily collections of eggs via either a heavy or medium sized goods vehicle.”

This statement is factually incorrect. The site was used for pullet rearing, not egg production. Operations followed a rotating 16-week cycle in which chicks were delivered and later collected at the beginning and end of the cycle.

In addition:

  1. Feed deliveries occurred weekly, not every “few” days.
  2. Poultry waste was removed at the end of each 16-week cycle, coinciding with the collection of pullets.
  3. There were no daily vehicle movements or heavy traffic typical of egg distribution operations.

This mischaracterisation exaggerates the historic intensity of site use and is being used to justify a planning application that would significantly increase traffic, noise, and risk to neighbouring properties. I urge the planning authority to ensure the application is assessed on the basis of accurate operational history.

I would appreciate confirmation that this correction has been noted and included as part of the consideration process. Please let me know if you require further detail.

Kind regards,
